Her Excellency Dr. Barbara Stewart

Her Excellency Dr. Barbara Stewart is a humanitarian leader, registered clinical counsellor, and global health advocate with over two decades of professional and community service. Born in Jamaica of Nigerian heritage and now based in Canada, Dr. Stewart serves as a United Nations Humanitarian Peace Ambassador and is widely recognized for her work in health, governance, and women’s empowerment.
Dr. Stewart holds multiple advanced degrees, including a Doctorate in Christian Counselling, a Ph.D. in Humanitarian and Mission Counselling, and dual Master’s degrees in Leadership and Diplomatic Relations. She is the Founder and CEO of BNJ Holistic Counselling and Wellness Centre and has worked in the medical field as a nurse for more than 25 years.
She currently serves in senior leadership within the African Union Sixth Region Canada as Vice Chair and Deputy Secretary-General, with responsibility for governance, intergovernmental affairs, and health. As Director and Health Advisor to the Doris Baird Memorial Clinic, Dr. Stewart provides strategic guidance on health systems, community engagement, and ethical care delivery.
